My Writing Process, Part Five

Every time the truck is filled it is a test for its carrying capacity. Every time a new novel is submitted to my publisher Maine Authors Publishing, my doubts and worries about acceptance are also tested. Have I done enough to make it possible for the editor and designer to turn my rough work into a book which readers will enjoy? AND, how

long will it take to finish creation of my masterpiece?

LOADING THE TRUCK (Editing and design)

The truck is finally back. Its capacity has been increased with a cage of heavy wire mounted atop the dump box to make room for two cords. Now the conveyor rumbles into action and crew members throw splits onto the belt which moves them to the elevated end and drops each piece into the truck. Some conveyors incorporate a vibrator which shakes the belt and throws bark and scrap off to the sides. As the truck fills, its suspension is tested. The body drops closer to the ground. Will two cords be too much for it to bear?

As for my writing process, I get back on track, a sequel to follow the paths of characters from PROSPECTS, Mining Maine for Riches and Francena Hallett’s Heart when they finally meet in Waterford and Westbrook. Things have gone smooth enough for me to upload the final draft Word doc and send it one to a real editor who can do more than shake off the bark and typos. Then the designer raises the elevation of text to its cleanest and most readable level and the cover design is finalized. A week later I get a hard copy galley for final review, approve it and send it up the conveyor to be dropped into the press.
